Maeve van klaveren

Maeve van Klaveren lives and works in Utrecht. “My work is figurative. What you see is taken from daily life. Something intrigues me and this I process into my drawings. The subject often arises from something small – an image or thought. I believe in giving meaning, it must be genuine. How one ultimately reads the image is what it should be, its about giving your own interpretation.

It is my personal story of how I look at feelings, relationships, desires, connection, hope and despair, life and death. I try to convey timeless and universal emotions. These emotions and everyday life are an important source of inspiration. I work with drawing materials that can portray my subjects in the best way, with a preference for watercolor or pastel.” — Maeve van Klaveren
